Are you looking for a fun way to celebrate your little one’s birthday, while still following suggested social distancing guidelines? We did an outdoor family movie night, and let me tell you.. it was a hit!

We rented a giant inflatable movie screen from Adam over at Quarantine Cinema, he is located in Corte Madera, but services all over the Bay Area. We rented the screen for $150 but it included the giant 16-foot inflatable screen, HD Theatre quality projector w/WiFi, blue tooth speakers and he even threw in the blue tooth gaming remote. Having the screen made my little one feel EXTRA special. He was a little sad when we had to return it, but luckily he got to watch (and even play his Wii video games) on it the whole weekend!

For snacks, we set up a concession style table with popcorn, candy and juice packs. We had all the regular candies you would find at a movie theatre including chocolate, red vines and flavored popcorn seasonings! Everyone had their individual snack caddy (courtesy of dollar tree) so keep track of what drinks/snacks belonged to who. We even threw in some colored glow sticks for fun! We splurged on a cake from Little Sunflower Bakery in SoCal (IG: @lilsunflowerbakery), that grandma so graciously drove up and delivered on her visit.

For seating we made some DIY cars out of cardboard boxes and structured it like a drive-in movie theatre. We painted the boxes and added black plates for wheels and red plastic bowls for headlights. The kids loved sitting in their box cars watching the movie and it helped keep them seated during the movie instead of running around the movie area.

All in all, we had a great day and we would highly suggest this fun family activity for any little one with a special day they want to celebrate!
